Cygames by the Numbers: 2025

Greetings from the Cygames Magazine editorial department!
We’ve prepared a variety of infographics to help you get to know Cygames by the numbers. Take a look and see how they add up!
Note: Unless otherwise stated, all data is recent as of August 31, 2025.
Our Staff

First, let’s take a look at how many of us there are. Since its founding in May 2011 by five console game developers, Cygames has grown to over 3,200 strong, with offices in Tokyo, Osaka, and Saga.

In the office, you’ll find colleagues of all ages, from twenty-somethings fresh out of school to veterans of the industry forty and up, all working together to create the best in entertainment.

Making games requires diverse talents. Cygames is made up of artists, engineers, back office staff, and more. Regardless of each person’s role, everyone’s a part of Team Cygames. We make sure departmental boundaries don’t get in the way of improving the quality and efficiency of our work.

Ever since Cygames began hiring fresh graduates in 2013, fostering an environment where new talent can grow and thrive has been a priority of ours. Today, many of our team leaders, managers, and directors started out as fresh graduates. On the other hand, our mid-career hires use their wealth of experience to serve as core members of their projects.
Seminars and Training

We know that our brand image depends on the individual contributions of all our team members, so we make sure to equip fresh graduates and mid-career hires alike with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. New hires are welcomed into the company with briefings on the different departments, cybersecurity, business manners, and more, while training courses for aspiring managers and mentors are available to more experienced members.

The company also holds regular internal seminars, such as “Skill-Up Thursday” for engineers, held since 2015, and the “Artist Talk” series, which got started in 2019. Everyone is welcome to sit in on these talks, making them an opportunity to share knowledge beyond departmental boundaries.

CyStudy is an internal conference where anyone can share the expertise accumulated by their team, to make sure all those nuggets of wisdom don’t stay buried in individual projects. The 233 seminars held to date have spanned not only all aspects of game development, but also generative AI, anime production, and hiring strategies.

In order to contribute to the wider industry, Cygames also makes frequent appearances at external conferences such as the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference held every summer and our very own Cygames Tech Conference, where we share the expertise we’ve cultivated on the front lines of AI, game design, video and sound production, marketing, and more.

Regardless of occupation, all are welcome to take part in our two-day Cygames Game Jam or the longer Cygames Game Contest, where teams create their very own game over half a year. These events create opportunities to connect with and inspire each other, broadening the possibilities of our content.
Our Creations
Next, we’ll introduce the games, anime, and manga that we’ve created.

Sixteen of our games are currently available, from mobile games like Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond and Umamusume: Pretty Derby to console games like Granblue Fantasy: Relink and Umamusume: Pretty Derby – Party Dash. We’ve also got Project Awakening and other titles currently in the works. Additionally, in 2024 we launched our Cygames ID service, which allows players to create a single account to use across our games and services.

We’ve been involved in a plethora of anime, from original anime like Zombie Land Saga and Brave Bang Bravern!, to anime based on our games like Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and Princess Connect! Re: Dive, and finally feature-length films like Umamusume: Pretty Derby – Beginning of a New Era and Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise. For some works, we take on a central role in production, while for others we contribute to the project with funding. In cooperation with CygamesPictures, a subsidiary of Cygames, our team stands ready to take on new genres and forms of expression.

In May of 2016, we released Cycomics, our manga distribution app. It boasts a catalog of 47 titles (as of August 2025) across the spectrum of genres, from action and horror to comedy and romance.
We also make an effort to take our content beyond the medium of manga with adaptations for TV and other platforms.

Note: Only events held solely or collaboratively by Cygames are counted.
In-person events related to our games, anime, and manga give us precious opportunities to interact with our players. This year, Shadowverse Special Festival let fans get their hands on the very first demo of Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond and watch top Shadowverse teams duke it out. We also held the latest in our ongoing series of Umamusume concerts, 6th Event: The New Frontier, a traveling exhibit of background art from our games, a talk event commemorating the release of the 25th volume of Tsuyoshi: Nobody can Beat Him, as well as a slew of pop-up stores and collab events not counted in the figure above.
Global Expansion

We’re always eager to expand our global reach. Our branches in South Korea, Taiwan, the UK, US, and Singapore help us deliver the best in entertainment around the world with localized translation, marketing, and in-person events.

Setting up booths at events across the globe lets us get to know our overseas players. This year, Cygames attended nine such events, including Taiwan’s largest gaming event, Taipei Game Show, and North America’s largest anime convention, Anime Expo. When it comes to delivering our content, our aim is to always meet our players where they are.
Working Environment
Cygames prioritizes work-life balance, and we try to ensure our employees have an environment they can feel comfortable working in.

With weekends and public holidays, over 120 days of the year are spent not working. We also offer summer vacation days, marriage leave, and are committed to supporting the new parents among us, with 100% of those who take parental leave returning to work afterwards.

Standing tables facilitate spontaneous communication and offer a ready place to hold meetings, making work proceed smoother for everyone.

Staff can browse or borrow over 38,000 books across our Tokyo, Osaka, and Saga offices. With everything from business books to novels, manga, and magazines, there’s something for everyone to learn from or mine for inspiration.
Our Tokyo and Osaka offices also have dedicated library rooms where staff can kick back and relax with a book.

Part of our mission statement at Cygames is “game together.” In order to make a fun game, you need to first enjoy playing games yourself, right? With over 530 consoles and 4,600 games, our office playroom is always filled with gamers duking it out in fighting games, tackling action titles and RPGs, or practicing rhythm games during lunch and after work.

In May 2025, Cygames celebrated its 14th anniversary. Thanks to support from players like you, we’ve continued to grow year after year. We hope you’ll look forward to more of the best in entertainment!
