ANIME EXPO 2019 Event Report ~Dive Into the World of Granblue Fantasy!~
ANIME EXPO 2019, one of the largest anime conventions in the USA, was held in Los Angeles between July 4 and 7! Cygames had a booth there again this year, following previous years of participation. Here’s a report from the thrill-packed venue.
What is ANIME EXPO?
Before getting into the report from the event venue, here’s a simple description of the event itself.
ANIME EXPO was founded in 1992, and is now one of the largest anime conventions in the USA. It is held in Los Angeles in July each year. Continuing to expand in scale, last year it welcomed a staggering 350,000 attendees!
The four-day event includes panel exhibitions, concerts, fashion shows, a cosplay competition, and more. As a festival of Japanese pop culture and anime, it attracts attention from around the world.
What about the Cygames booth?
Considering the energy at ANIME EXPO each year, many Japanese companies also participate. In order to interact with our passionate American fans, Cygames also set up a booth!
The Cygames booth this year welcomed local fans with a playable demo of Granblue Fantasy Versus (which had recently held a closed beta test), a retail corner for our content, and a photo spot where you could grab a snap against a Granblue Fantasy Versus backdrop!
This time, producer Kimura and director Tetsuya Fukuhara also visited!
The panel discussion featuring Kimura and Fukuhara was also a roaring success!
On July 6, Kimura and Fukuhara took to the stage and held a panel discussion about the world of Granblue. The venue buzzed with excitement to hear comments directly from these two—a rare opportunity! When they headed out onto the stage there were even shouts of “Ki-mu-ra!” and “Fu-ku-ha-ra!,” the fans were so into it.
The panel discussion came to an end amid a charged atmosphere of excitement.
Overall it proved to be a very valuable event, providing a chance to communicate with many Granblue and Cygames fans!
Thank you to everyone who came!
